How dollars are utilizedThe Saul and Dayee G. Haas Foundation provides funding to needy secondary school students through partnership with those closest to the student: the teachers, counselors, coaches and staff at the student's school.
Each August, the Haas Foundation provides an initial round of grants to eligible schools. The school principal along with two Haas coordinators dispense the funds as needed for specific student needs ranging from activity cards, musical instruments, appropriate clothing or uniforms, school supplies, test fees, etc. The idea is to make funds available immediately to kept students engaged in school and school related activities - in the words of our founder "to do that which would not otherwise be timely done… with minimal bureaucracy." Schools are required to report online back to the Foundation at the end of each year how the funds where used. During the 2006/2007 school year, the Hass Foundation disbersed over $425,000 of funding to over 14,000 students statewide through this unique partnership. Since it inception 1963, the Haas Foundation has granted over $13 Million dollars to needy secondary school students in the State of Washington.
