Joyce Walters was named Executive Director of InvestED in June 2017. Prior to joining the nonprofit sector, Walters spent over 20 years working at The Boeing Company. Since leaving Boeing, Walters has focused her efforts on supporting public education in the U.S. as the CEO and founder of her own consulting firm. Her client list includes America’s Promise Alliance, Achieve, GE Foundation, Sally Ride Science, The Conference Board and Change the Equation, a White House STEM education initiative launched eight years ago under the Obama administration. Walters also serves on Governor Inslee’s STEM Education Innovation Alliance Leadership Team, is a board member of the Institute of Flight and has worked closely with legislators at the local, state and national levels on public education. For the past several years, Walters has served as an Interim Executive Director for several organizations. 



Elizabeth Benedict joined the team in October 2017 as Director of Development. She brings more than 25 years of fundraising, communications and public relations expertise to InvestED. Elizabeth’s experience ranges from working with small startup nonprofits in which she established formal fundraising efforts to international philanthropic organizations with offices worldwide. Elizabeth is driven to leverage investment dollars and communication strategies that reduce inequities that can limit people who are vulnerable and marginalized.  



Ashley Clingan began part-time in June 2016 as the new Program Administrator for InvestED. She is passionate about helping children and youth to reach their fullest potential. Prior to coming to InvestED, she worked in Thurston County’s CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Program as a Guardian ad Litem and volunteer specialist. She attended the University of Washington for her undergraduate degree and later obtained a certificate in Nonporfit Management. 

C.J. Livingtston has been a volunteer with InvestED since 2008. After various science technology, computer and database jobs around the country, she settled in the Pacific Norrthwest and is committed to supporting InvestED’s mission in providing immediate help for students in need. Her prime interest is collecting and managing data received from partner schools.

Lacy Moran joined the InvestED team in October of 2016 as the Interim Development Director and will continue with the team until the end of January 2018. She began her career in fundraising in 2018, working primarily for nonprofit organizations with a focus on education. Most recently, she served as the Director of Development and Capital Campaign at Assets School in Honolulu, Hawaii

Judy Simpson joined InvestED in 2008 and became Communications Manager in 2017. Her 25+ years of communications and event experience includes branding and creative direction for organizations including The Museum of Flight, New Beginnings and Northwest Flower & Garden Show. 
Aria Wilson joined the InvestED team in March of 2018 as an Administrative Assistant. She’s a recent postgraduate from the University of Washington and studied global studies with an emphasison human rights. Her background is that of an early childhood educator that incorporated equitable approaches to children’s learning and development. She recognizes that this allows them to thrive and have healthy perceptions of themselves and the world around them. With this background, Aria firmly believes that no single approach is the right one for every individual and child in need. 



InvestED draws support from a dedicated 17-member board, and other volunteers who serve in our statewide Educator Ambassador Program IDEA. Those members meet with our board twice a year to discuss statewide strategies for programming, fundraising, and supporting each other.
